World of Warcraft is the premiere massively multiplayer online role-playing game. If you have longed for a high quality game in the genre, this is it!

Once you have created your alter ego from the huge assortment of races and classes, you are ready to immerse yourself in the real time strategy games of the fantasy world of Azeroth Fans will be pleased at how well World of Warcraft incorporates references to previous entries in the Warcraft line as well as how seamlessly the gameplay has translated to this different style of game. In fact, WoW is fast and easy to get into. Once your account is set up and character created, you are set to go.

While on the surface World of Warcraft may seem like other games of its type, it is truly unique. Yes, there are some typical elements: fighting creatures, exploring the setting, completing quests, gaining experience and abilities, and gathering items. But WoW takes the genre to a whole new level.
Gameplay is pleasingly intuitive, even for the inexperienced user, unencumbered with a clunky tutorial - opting instead for pop up tips. The hardcopy manual is handy as reference material for those who wish to explore the game in more depth. With dozens of realms, you can choose the world that fits your particular preferences for gameplay. You can create multiple characters suited for different realms as well.

In stark contrast to other RPGs, World of Warcraft does not sink into repetition. There is constant variety and fast paced battles that keep you immersed and engaged for hours. The world is seamless and the few load time occurrences are very fast. Recovery time between battles is short and healing can be achieved easily, even without spells. Battles are quick, yet not overwhelming, and sufficiently challenging.
A multitude of quests are available as this is the core of the game. You will only be offered quests that you are qualified for and will easily locate them by identifying characters with exclamation marks over their heads. Quests vary in length and goal, some concentrating on exploration and others on attaining money or items. Quests that challenge you to move into enemy regions provide perfect opportunities to join with other players in a group with a common goal.
Other opportunities for combat between players are generally consensual. You may choose to take part in a nonlethal duel with another character. In some areas of Azeroth you can be attacked without consent, so be aware of the areas you are traveling in and be prepared.

The world is huge, but foot travel is effective and will allow you to absorb the incredible scenery in each realm. There are means of faster travel once you reach an initial destination by foot.
By now you are wondering… But what happens if my character dies in battle? Other RPGs inflict penalties for dying, but World of Warcraft has put forth an innovative solution. After death, you immediately respawn as a ghost in a nearby graveyard or you are resurrected if a healer is with you. You may choose to come back to life with your items in need of some repair for their slight degradation. Basically, you lose a little time, but nothing too penalizing.
World of Warcraft is visually stunning to behold. The anime influence is evident and the artistry is simply incredible. Every detail is rendered perfectly and blends together to make the transition between realms seamless – differentiating the realms yet keeping the overall feeling of one world. Audio is also high level with symphonic soundtracks and subtle background sounds.

The downside of World of Warcraft? This takes some thought… The downside is that you can’t play constantly! But regardless of whether you have an hour or a day, World of Warcraft will offer you a high quality experience and leave you looking forward to your next visit to the realm.
